PART-TIME INTERIOR DESIGNER (hybrid-remote, flexible schedule)

Summary:

Patrick Ediger Interior Design, a luxury residential design firm, is seeking a motivated and resourceful Part-Time Interior Designer to join our dynamic team. This hybrid-remote role offers flexible hours, making it ideal for someone looking for a long-term, part-time opportunity.

 

As part of our team, you’ll work closely with our Principal Designer and collaborate with both internal and external teams. You’ll play an active role in every stage of the design process, from initial research and concept development to final execution and project management.

Location: Los Angeles Hybrid-Remote (remote independent work + regular onsite job-site meetings and presentations)

​

Compensation Range: $25-$35/hour, based on experience

​

Commitment: +/-20 hours per week, flexible schedule

​

How This Role is Measured: 

​

Success in this role is measured by the timely completion of tasks, increased efficiency, and clear project status communication and documentation. Principal Designer should be freed to focus on creative and business development endeavors. Meeting and exceeding design project and company goals is a key indicator of success.

Required Credentials:

​

  • Bachelor’s or Associate's Degree in Interior Design (or other similar education or work experience) 

  • Minimum 1-5 years’ experience in residential interior design and project management
    ​​

Technical Skills:

​

  • Software Proficiencies: Google Docs, Google Sheets and Dropbox

  • Beneficial software experience: Studio Designer, Canva, Sketchup, Adobe Suit and Notion

Required Skillset:

​

  • Excellent written/verbal communication, documentation and strong analytical skills

  • High level of note-taking and typing 

  • High level understanding of the design process

  • High level experience designing, sourcing and documenting hardscape finishes, standard and custom furnishings, textiles, millwork, rugs, wallcoverings, lampshades, bedding, etc.

  • High level of understanding of different trades, how they interact, and the order of operations when multiple trades are involved

  • Some level of the furniture design process

  • Some level of understanding of the construction process​

  • Excellent time management and self-management skills

  • Driven to complete tasks and able to ‘figure things out’ when needed

  • Gets our target client, their pain points and aspirations, and how we can best serve them to produce their desired results

  • Consistently poised with timely customer service

  • Able to predict what will be needed for project success and enjoys optimizing daily tasks

  • Flexible, detail-oriented, enthusiastic, thoughtful, grounded, and able to pivot between competing responsibilities without getting flustered

Key Responsibilities:

​

​You will play a primary role in sourcing, development, data entry, documentation, coordination and execution of design projects. You will also be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Conduct research and development, source project materials and furnishings

  • Assist in producing presentation materials

  • Collaborate with Principal Designer and internal/external teams on various project deliverables including preparing material and furnishing schedules 

  • Coordinate communication between some internal/external team members including directing 3rd parties in revising drawing packages

  • Prepare material and furnishing proposals 

  • Coordinate construction documentation & administration, submittals, site visits and quality control

  • Prepare weekly project status reports for the Principal Designer

  • Document and coordinate custom furnishings, textiles, millwork, rugs, wallcoverings, lampshades, bedding, etc.

  • Assist with compiling project budgets and timelines

  • Assist with onsite project meetings, client presentations and project installations

  • Communicate with vendors and trades

  • Coordinate with vendors to rectify deficiencies in deliverables

Other Requirements:

​

  • Access to high-speed internet, computer, and mobile phone

  • Must be located within the city of Los Angeles. Our office is located in Northeast LA, and while close proximity is not necessary, it may be helpful. 

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Must have reliable transportation and auto insurance

  • Business casual attire required for onsite/job-site meetings.

While this is a part-time position, we are looking for an experienced individual who is interested in growing with us and committed to long-term collaboration. This is not a “stepping stone” position, and we are seeking candidates with a proven track record in interior design who are ready to make a meaningful contribution to our firm for the long haul.
